Indonesian Celebration

This is the food.  Left to right: Gado-Gado (Indonesian salad); Lambal Kacang (peanut sauce); Sate Daging (a common street food similar to ka-bobs); soup; and Opor Ayam (chicken in coconut cream sauce).

Mama made the table pretty.

The food was pretty well-liked.  We ate off of banana leaves and used our fingers.

We had fried plantains and spicy candy for dessert.

Click here to see pictures from past celebrations and to find out how we got started doing them.

2014 Fall Campout Stephen F. Austin State Park

The first thing we did when we got to the campground was find these large fruits everywhere, chop one open, and do a bunch of research to figure out what they were.  You can learn more about this fascinating Texas plant here.  Having hard balls (softball-size or bigger) falling from the trees was a bit unnerving, but no one got hurt.

The first thing the Wades did when they got there was run everywhere like crazy and roll around in the tall grass.

The Wades love their new camper!

The hammock was a very popular attraction.

We had fun opening and eating a coconut.

Grace was a happy camper!

There were lots of little kids to play with.

Take a look at the inside of our friend's tent!  She calls it " glamping".

Honor was apparently rubbing his face with ashes.

Lastly, here's a picture of my shiners approximately 34 hours after my bike and I were attacked by a fence made of logs.
