Learning to Mow

Mowing the yard used to always be Seth's job, but since he started college, he hasn't really had time.  Papa decided that it was time to teach us girls to mow, so we had a lawn mowing workshop a couple of weeks ago.

In order to start the mower, you have to do three things at once: press the brake, turn the key, and sit on the seat.  There is a sensor in the seat that determines whether or not someone is sitting in it, which is a safety feature, so that if you stand up the engine will shut off.  Laura is heavy enough that it doesn't shut off when she's just driving, but in order for her to push the brake all the way down, she has to stretch forward so far that the seat doesn't know she's there!
